Frustrated with watching the federal government ignore climate promises and let down his community, Mike Morrice was first inspired to run to represent Kitchener Centre in 2019.

He served as the Deputy Leader of the Green Party of Canada prior to the party’s leadership race, and served as the Member of Parliament for Kitchener Centre from 2021 to 2025 – the first Green MP ever elected in Ontario.

As MP, Mike was known for working across party lines to get results, most notably in securing tens of millions in funding for affordable housing in his community, enshrining the Canada Disability Benefit – a $6 billion increase in financial support for folks with disabilities living in poverty – into law, including winning more amendments to the legislation than every other MP in the country combined.

Prior to serving as MP, Mike graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with double degrees in Business and Computer Electronics, founded Sustainable Waterloo Region, helped create his community’s first climate action plan, pioneered plans for Evolv1 – Canada’s first net energy positive multi-tenant building – and founded Green Economy Canada.

He lives in Kitchener with his partner Blythe and their family, is currently an Executive in Residence with Capacity Canada, and will be running again to serve his community as MP in the next federal election.
